Take Ten Time

It is Take Ten time again and rubber stampers know what that means….Eye candy to feast upon! As usual, my postman is slow with my delivery. I’m not sure if the postal service enjoying my copy or just trying to make me crazy by waiting. So smarty me went to And Bear Makes Three, my local stamp store, to sneak a peak. Oh happiness, I have three cards in this issue. Two cards use the same stamp and color palette. They feature a lovable bulldog stamp that Tom brought home one day. Imagine, a hubby the brings home stamps, and cool stamps at that.
The third card, Asian Roses is pink and black and features one of those great Penny Black brushstroke stamps that I adore. The background is made by brayering chalk inks on glossy card stock in a random pattern.
Also in this Take Ten issue there is a free sheet of artist paper, just like its sister publications Stamper's Sample and Somerset Studio. And who can resist free paper? Plus a new template that has my wee brain buzzing with ideas. Time to grab a Diet Coke and settle is to enjoy all the great little ten minute cards.

A Work in Progress

Collage work is so popular in the paper arts field but I must confess that it's very difficult for me. I recently purchase Layers by artist Shari Carroll and I'm "workin' on it". This project, hopefully for a future class next year, is my first try. I bought the two Stampington rubber stamps with high hopes only to crumple up everything I made using them. This is the first project that has escape my trash can. The images are colored with oil pigments and blended with mineral spirits, my new favorite coloring method. The background paper is from Sonnets and that's my last sheet. Guess I will have to travel back to Missoula Montana to purchase more. I doubt Tom will complain about another chance to fish in Montana.

Reflection

Today's card is an interesting Asian design using Reflection stamp by DP Artworks. The wonderful Asian paper was a gift from my good friend Julie from Montana. And I think we can all agree, it makes this card.

The card measures 4 x 8 inches, which is an interesting size and lends itself to vertical design elements that can't always be used in conventional card formats. This is also my first try at Mizuhiki cord and I can already tell I'm going to have a lot of fun playing with this new toy. I would venture to say that there just might be a Mizuhiki cord class in my future. Fun stuff.

Consent

No one can make you feel inferior without your consent
~Eleanor Roosevelt~
I really like this quote. We do need to not let others define us, we should be in touch with our own worth as a fellow traveler through life or just an artist enjoying a project. All stamps on this card are by DP Artworks of Norman Oklahoma. Images were stamped on watercolor paper and then painted with watercolor paints.

To Dream In Color

...to step outside the constraints of black and white, to breathe in the colors of life and feel the richness of their hues. Take the raw elements of earth and turn it into something new, something of beauty and value.
