Our House Board Book

Yes, this is a board book but there is nothing boring about the book. The house shaped chipboard book is by Bare Elements. If you have no history with Bare Elements, you must investigate this line! They have a large collection of, well.... elements! that are ready to stamp, cover, alter and embellish. Just want we stampers all want, all the fun without all the work.

I was instantly drawn to this cute house shaped book for one of my spring classes. I thought the ideas were limitless. So I printed out pictures of my two favorite love-bugs, Maddie & Evan. To keep textures similar, I printed to photos on smooth cream card stock. I like when the finishes of the surfaces match and it's just one of those little details that make a project even better.

The background paper is Basic Grey, Sublime I think. And I used a textured Bazzil Java for the roof and chimney cap. I smudged Versamagic Sahara Sand across the textured surface for that certain grunge look that is so appealing. The background was stamped with my favorite script stamp by Sandi Miller and the new Dot Flourish by Hero Arts. The edges of the book were sanded and then colored with a bit of Distress Tattered Rose. I then stamped Our House by Post Modern Designs on cream patteren paper, then tore the edges and smudged with Colorbox cocoa cat eye.

The side tabs were stamped with Original Definitions and then punched with a tab punch. I find it easier to stamp and then punch for perfectly aligned stamped tabs. I used my favorite Colorbox pigment cocoa cat eye to smudge and aged the tabs.
